According to 247Sports, Texas A&M defensive lineman and former five-star recruit LT Overton intends to use the transfer portal. Originally choosing the Aggies over offers from Oklahoma, Georgia, Oregon, and many other schools, Overton was ranked as the No. 17 overall talent in the 2022 class by 247Sports. In 2023, Overton had 31 tackles for the Aggies, including six solo tackles. In his two seasons at Texas A&M, he has recorded one career sack. Micaiah, Overton’s older brother, intends to use the site as well, according to 247Sports. He transferred to Texas A&M last year to play with LT after first signing with Liberty. Micaiah attended Texas A&M for two years and participated in just one game.
The brothers Overton would be the ninth and tenth players from Texas A&M to get access to the portal. After firing coach Jimbo Fisher last month, the Aggies, who had recruited at an elite level in the previous four years, are now struggling to hang on to outstanding players while they undergo a major revamp. In place of Fisher, Texas A&M hired Mike Elko, the coach of Duke. Elijah Robinson, Oveton’s main recruiter, left last week to take a position at Syracuse as defensive coordinator. Robinson led Texas A&M in its final two 2023 games as an interim coach.
